Partnering Through Production with Inission

Behind every fast lap, there’s a network of fast signals, and behind every signal is a precisely built circuit board. At Revolve NTNU, we design and produce over 40 custom PCBs every year for everything from sensors and control systems to power electronics and autonomous features. Making sure those boards are reliable, high-quality, and ready for racing wouldn’t be possible without Inission Løkken.

Our collaboration with Inission Løkken goes all the way back to 2013. Since then, they’ve played a key role in supporting our Embedded Electronics team with both equipment access and deep production expertise. Every fall, we head out to Løkken Verk to produce prototypes, and again in the spring to manufacture the final boards that will sit inside the car.

With decades of experience in producing electronics for extreme environments like space, subsea, and aviation, Inission’s standards are a perfect match for the reliability and robustness we need on the racetrack.

The production process at Inission Løkken is hands-on, intensive, and essential. For two weeks in the spring, 4–5 of our members are on-site to pick components, apply solder paste, place parts, and run the boards through reflow ovens. After assembly, we get to use their X-ray inspection machine to check solder joints, and test the boards in their temperature and vibration chambers to simulate race-like conditions.

Over the years, Inission Løkken has hosted soldering and ESD courses, shared valuable feedback on our designs, and always kept the door open when we’ve needed support or guidance, whether that’s fixing a tricky board or solving a last-minute issue before competition.

Their close proximity to Trondheim also means we benefit from short lead times and fast communication, something that’s critical when we’re on tight schedules and dealing with multiple design revisions.

We’re proud of everything we’ve accomplished together over the past ten years, and we’re excited to continue this partnership into the future. With their world-class facilities, experienced team, and shared mindset of continuous improvement, Inission remains one of our most valued partners in making our car - and our team - better every season.
